About SCRAPE Records

SCRAPE Records (Vancouver, BC Canada) opened the doors to its first location on Nov.1, 1997 as Vancouver’s “Only Source For Metal” – an independent record store specializing in all things Hard Rock / Heavy Metal.

By the turn of the millennium SCRAPE was distributing Combat/Relativity product for Century Media records, released a promo-only SCRAPE compilation of local Hard Rock / Metal bands titled “West Coast Canadian Metal Feast Vol.1” (feat: Devin Townsend, Zimmers Hole, Infernal Majesty, 3 Inches of Blood and more) along with the SCRAPE Records’ release of the prog-metal album “Sense of Mind” by the band Empyria.

In the early 2000s, SCRAPE became more involved with the marketing, promoting and ticket sales of local concerts. In 2010, SCRAPE began talent buying of international artists, marketing and promoting of its’ own SCRAPE branded shows, and is currently still doing so.

In 2008 SCRAPE moved to a larger location to help accommodate the growth in customer base and inventory. Despite a very loyal customer base and consistent sales, SCRAPE made the difficult decision in 2015, announcing that it was time to move on and explore further music endeavours. SCRAPE Records’ retail location officially closed its doors Feb.27, 2016.

Between SCRAPE’s first months of opening to the store’s final months, SCRAPE hosted many international bands for in-store performances and for meet-n-greet appearances. Notable artists include Alice Cooper, In Flames, Opeth, Mastodon, Chris Jericho, Gwar, Cannibal Corpse, Lamb of God, Cradle of Filth, Children of Bodom, Amon Amarth, Meshuggah and Devin Townsend.

On Nov.1, 2017 – SCRAPE’s 20th Anniversary – it was announced that SCRAPE Records “the store” has resurfaced as SCRAPE records “the label” and announced its first SCRAPE-label signing… ZIMMERS HOLE!
